| 50% increase in hits and visits
July 2010: Popularity of the nomepre.net domain has increased by more than 50% in the past year according
to the domain webalizer statistics. In the past 12 months, the website attracted more than 9,000 visits and 42,000 hits.
Both statistics increased by more than 50% compared to the previous 12-month period.
June 2010 was busiest month since the introduction of the website with the average of 166 hits and 33 visits per day.
The increased popularity is largely due to the
StoNED method that has attracted growing attention

Timo Kuosmanen appointed as Professor at Helsinki School of Economics
August 2009: Dr. Timo Kuosmanen has been appointed
as Professor at Helsinki School of Economics (HSE).
The tenured professorship is placed at the Department of Business Technology, in the subject of Quantitative Methods of Economics
and Management Sciences. The Council of Teaching and Research of HSE chose Kuosmanen from 13 qualified applicants, based on
reviews of three international experts. Kuosmanen starts in the new position in August 2009.
Kuosmanen returns back to his intellectual roots at the same department where he completed his Ph.D. in 2001. Having
held academic positions in Denmark and the Netherlands, Kuosmanen returned to Helsinki in 2006, appointed as a professor of
food markets at MTT Agrifood Research Finland. Kuosmanen continues as adjuct professor at MTT on part-time basis (max 1 day per week).
Helsinki School of Economics (HSE), est. 1911, is the largest and leading business school in Finland and a globally acknowledged player in management education. In January 2010, HSE will merge with
the Helsinki University of Technology and Helsinki University of Art and Design to create a new Aalto University. The ambitious goal of the Aalto University is to be one of the leading institutions

Mika Kortelainen appointed as Lecturer at the University of Manchester
July 2009: Dr. Mika Kortelainen
has been appointed to a lectureship at the
University of Manchester, the School of Social Sciences.
The field of lectureship is Environmental and Resource Economics, more specifically, corporate contributions to sustainability.
Kortelainen moved to Manchester in May 2009 from the Aston Business School, Birmingham, where he held a temporary
one-year research associte position after completing his Ph.D. in August 2008. He was first appointed to a temporary lectureship,
but in July Kortelainen was chosen to a permanent lectureship at the same department.
The Economics Department of the University of Manchester ranks in the top 10 of all UK Economics Departments. It is
internationally recognised as a leading centre for economics research, and research-led teaching, across all the core areas of microeconomics, macroeconomics and econometrics, including development and environmental economics.
The department hosts many externally funded research projects and is the editorial home of the general economics journal The Manchester School.
Over 6,000 visits and 28,000 hits to NOMEPRE homepage
July 2009: The latests web analytics show clear increase in the popularity of the NOMEPRE
homepage. In the one year period July 2008 - July 2009, the homepage received over 6,000 visits and 28,000 hits. In the
past 6-month period, the website has attracted on average 20 visists per day. In the best days the number of visists comes close to 50, but demand is surprisingly stable across all weekdays.
The average number of daily visists has more than doubled since our monitoring of web statistics started in Nov 2007. More detailed web statistics can be found

Tarmo Räty moves to METLA
March 2009: Dr. Tarmo Räty
has been appointed as a senior researcher at the
Finnish Forest Research Institute (METLA), Joensuu Research Unit.
The main field of research in Räty's new position is climate policy in the forest sector. He moves to METLA from the
Government Institute for Economic Research (VATT).
